Overall: I've used Aurasma on maybe 20 projects over 5 years and it's my favorite AR authoring app. For most things, I would strongly recommend building with Unity / Unreal game engines for dedicated apps, SparkAR / Snapchat Lens Studio for social platforms, or WebAR with an open-source library, otherwise you just need to weigh the risks of the volatility of a given company if you are using their closed-source tools.
